Kosmos

Terms

What Kosmos does with your money, and what you agree to.

Who you are contracting with

Kosmos has not yet named the company operating in Uganda. Until it does, these rules describe how the marketplace works but there is no published contracting party in Uganda. If you are reading this as a customer, ask before paying.

The full terms

The full terms for this country have not been published yet. The rules below describe what Kosmos does; they are not a substitute for that document.

Your money, between paying and receiving

When you pay for something, Kosmos holds the money. The seller does not receive it when you pay — they receive it after you have the item and have said so. That is the whole point of paying through Kosmos rather than handing cash to a stranger.

If the order is cancelled before it is on its way, the item cost comes back in full. If a rider has already set off, the item cost comes back and the delivery fee does not, because that journey happened.

If the item is not what was described

You have 7 days from confirming delivery to report an item as not as described. Reporting holds the seller's payout and puts the order in front of Kosmos to decide. After that, the sale is settled.

Kosmos decides these on what both sides can show — photographs, the listing as it was written, the messages between you. A decision releases the money to the seller or returns it to the buyer.

What Kosmos charges

Sellers pay 12% of the item price. It comes out of the payout rather than being added to the buyer's bill.

Delivery fees are not the seller's — they pay for the journey.

Promoted placement is optional and is charged only when a promoted listing sells. Buying promotion is not buying a better position in search results that hides what it is: promoted listings are marked.

Renting

A hire runs from when the item is handed over, and late returns accrue a daily fee stated on the listing before you book. Returning early pauses the hire before it ends, so an item handed back is not still running up time.

What may not be listed

Not, on any Kosmos marketplace:

Kosmos removes listings that break this and may close the account behind them. The country's own terms document says what else is prohibited there.

Your account

One person, one account, and the details on it true. A seller must be able to prove who they are before selling past the first few listings, and a buyer renting something valuable is asked the same.

You can close your account whenever you like, and what that erases is set out in the privacy notice.

When these change

Terms change; when they do, the version and date above change with them, and anything you had already agreed to is judged by the version that was published when you agreed.

Read this with the privacy notice, which covers what Kosmos holds about you rather than what it does with your money.
